Lattice Midriff

from $90.00

This lattice detail gives a plain white button-up the illusion of modern geometric cut-outs at the midriff. You can wear layers underneath and reveal as much or as little skin as you want. This process also lengthens the shirt so it could potentially become a mid-thigh shirt dress. I usually do white tabs on a white button-up, but it could be fun to try some colorblocking (either on the tabs or by selecting one color/print for the top half and another for the bottom half).

button-ups
possibly some other garments

1-2 week turnaround

Note: This method works best on a boxy button-up that’s about 2 sizes larger than you’d usually wear, because when I add the tabs at the midriff, the bottom half of the shirt falls at your hips. You’ll want some room at the hips for a loose fit and ease of movement. So I don’t suggest using a fitted/tailored shirt with darts for this rework.
